Robin Trust Nursing College (PTY) Ltd has been accredited with the nursing council for both Enrolled Nurse and Enrolled Nurse Auxiliary training.

The College is governed
by the relevant statutory bodies and the policies of Robin Trust. The teaching
methods utilized are outcomes-based and consist of theory and clinical training.
The theoretical training is one of “facilitation of learning”
allowing learners to move towards self-directed learning and critical thinking.
Most teaching strategies are at a participative level.
The planned clinical placements
at various private and government institutions
enables students to optimize the clinical experience(s) that will ultimately
shape their clinical skills that enables competent practitioners.
Integration of theory and practice is enforced and the students have sustained
exposure to dedicated educators and mentors ensuring progressive assessments
and constructive feedback systems.
ACCREDITATION & REGISTRATION
Robin Trust Nursing College (PTY) Ltd is accredited with the Department
of Education as a Private Further Education and Training College (FET).
We are also accredited with the Health & Welfare Sector of Education
& Training Authority (HWSETA No HW592POA400031) for short courses.
The nursing programme is accredited with the South African Nursing Council
(SANC).
RECOGNITION OF PRIOR
LEARNING
A student may qualify for prior learning credits depending on
previous studies and appropriate experience in accordance with the regulations
as stipulated by the SANC & HWSETA.
CONTRACTS
On acceptance as a student to the Robin Trust Nursing College
(PTY) Ltd, students enter into a mutual contract with the College which
describes the responsibility and accountability of both parties.
LEARNER SUPPORT
Robin Trust Nursing
College (PTY) Ltd offers in-house counseling - a structured programme of
academic support and provides students with appropriate socialization. Representatives
on the Student Representative Body are elected during each intake of new
students. The responsibility of the Student Representative Body is stipulated
in our constitution.
RESOURCES
Students have full use of our resource room & library. Our
fully-trained tutors ensure the best possible results through facilitation
of outcomes-based learning and utilization of relevant resources.
Mentors are available for all learners during the practical component of
the course.
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
Tuition fees for training programmes are market related and considered
competitive in the education and training industry.
A computerized student database
is maintained to manage both accounts and (for the) SAQA national database.
Fee increases for any programme (offered) are payable irrespective of the
date the applicant was accepted for a programme. Learners already attending
a programme will not be affected by the increase. There is no remuneration
for students whilst attending the course. This does not apply to learnerships
approved through HWSETA where an income applies.
PROGRAMMES OFFERED
Home Based Care
Our 3-month Home Based Care programme forms the backbone of the
Organization’s empowerment philosophy.
This programme is for the person who is interested in people and caring
for them – whether it be a family member or in the community. It is
considered as a stepping stone for career advancement to Enrolled Nurse
Auxiliary and Enrolled Nurse.
This course offers excellent groundwork for the nursing courses or as an
exit point for Nursing Agency work.
Course details
Module 1 (month one) covers the theoretical aspects of the course.
Module 2 & 3 (month 2 & 3) are for working and learning how to care
for patients in various local placement centres. Learners are exposed to
day & night shift work.
The programme (15 credits) is offered at our Pinelands, Cape Town and Port Elizabeth offices.
Enrolled Nurse Auxilary
(ENA – R2176)
The 1 year ENA programme is prescribed by the SANC. This course
will equip the students with the necessary skills and knowledge for the
provision of safe basic nursing care. On successful completion of the course,
students may work as an ENA in an hospital, clinic or private home or students
may be consider further study to become an Enrolled Nurse (EN).
Enrolled Nurse (EN – R2175)
This 1 year nursing programme is offered to candidates who have
successfully completed the 1-year ENA programme (Recognition of Prior Learning).
On successful completion of the course, you may work as an EN in any hospital,
clinic or private home or students may consider study to becoming a Registered
Nurse (RN).
Both nursing courses are offered at our Pinelands, Cape Town office.

Graduation
Our annual graduation
is open to families and friends of the students. The ceremony culminates
in recognition of the learner’s achievement as well as a fitting commencement
to their nursing career.
